Do I Have Leucorrhea (Excessive Vaginal Discharge)?

It is a type of vaginal discharge containing fluid, cells, and bacteria that lubricates and protects the vagina. Leucorrhea occurs due to fluctuations in hormonal levels during a woman's adult life from puberty to menopause. Leukorrhea, sometimes spelt as leucorrhea, is the issue of yellowish, whitish, or greenish discharge from the vagina. It is often caused due to unprotected sexual intercourse, nutritional deficiency, poor maintenance of hygiene in intimate areas, injury to the cervix or other parts of the female reproductive system during pregnancy, urinary tract infection, fungal or bacterial infections, hormonal imbalance, improper diet and lifestyle, improper vaginal hygiene, alcohol and smoking. Clinical examination to determine the cause of the discharge is necessary. Treatment aims to eliminate the underlying cause and typically involves administration of an antimicrobial agent.
