International Women’s Day (IWD) was first declared in 1910 with the first event held in 1911. International Women’s Day is celebrated every year on March 8th. It’s a day when we celebrate the amazing social, cultural, economic and political achievements of women, while also campaigning for greater progress towards gender equality. The IWD provides a unique and global opportunity to reignite, inspire and channel women's equality for the future.
It is a call for action, a call for women to be motivated and united in their journey towards progress and development. Throughout ancient and modern history, women have collaborated and lead purposeful action to redress inequality in the hope of a better future for their communities, children and themselves.
