Chin Mudra

‘Chin’ is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘Chit’ or ‘Chitta’, which means consciousness and ‘mudra’ which means gesture or seal.

When the index finger touches the thumb, a circuit is produced which allows the energy that would normally dissipate into the environment to travel back through the body.

Here the thumb symbolizes the supreme or divine consciousness (‘Brahman’), and the index finger symbolizes the human consciousness (‘atman’).

Uniting the two (‘yug’ or ‘yoga ‘means unite) is bringing together the individual, human consciousness with the divine consciousness.

Chin Mudra activates the mental element which is associated with white color. White is a color of unity, peace, and fullness. White clear out mind and free up the unwanted thoughts. As we all know peaceful mind works better than the occupied mind.
