Can A Diabetic Eat Fruits?

A very common question that we are asked by diabetics is that if they can eat fruits regularly.

Diabetics can shed their belief that fruits should be avoided by them because fruits contain 'lots of sugar' and they taste sweet.

It is true that fruits contain fruit sugars like fructose and sucrose.  It is also true that they contain plenty of vitamins, minerals, fiber and antioxidants which bring huge benefits to everyone including diabetics.

No matter how they taste, diabetics can eat fruits in limited quantities.  This includes banana, chickoo, mango, grape, pineapple, etc.

Work with your dietitian to understand how much fruit you can eat and when you should eat them.
